Frequently Asked Questions

Will my insurance pay for the cost of home care?

Commercial insurances will cover cost of home care if you have a long-term care insurance policy.  Please check with your insurance provider.

Will Medicare and Medicaid cover homecare services?

Medicare does not cover custodial care or non-medical home care services.   Medicaid may offer some coverage to eligible Medicaid recipients through a certified Medicaid provider.  Visit: http://www.cms.hhs.gov for more information.

Do I need a physician's order for your services?

A physician’s order is not required for homecare services.

Do you train your homecare workers? What type of training do you provide?

Yes, our homecare workers must complete the required pre-service training hours and must pass the competency tests before they are assigned to clients.  In addition, they must also complete the required annual in-service training hours on topics relevant to caregiving services mandated by the State.

Will I have a choice of who comes to my home?

Yes.  We encourage your involvement in the decision-making process.   We go through the process of matching these homecare workers with your needs and requests to find the perfect match.  We have a team of qualified and trained homecare workers each with set skills, experience, and availability.

What are the advantages when hiring a caregiver from a home care agency?

Hiring a caregiver from a home care agency may appear to cost more than directly hiring a private caregiver.  However, the advantages you get will surely convince you that you made the right decision.  A reputable home care agency will handle the: (1) Screening of applicants; (2) Training of employees; (3) Managing employees; (4) Staffing and Re-staffing of employees; (5) Supervising, evaluating, and monitoring of employees; and (6) Managing payroll and employment taxes.

When you hire your own homecare worker, you are responsible for these tasks.  Many can be time consuming. If you are unfamiliar with the state and federal laws, then the complexity may be overwhelming to you. As a result, we find that most people prefer to hire an agency rather than deal with the various details.

Do I pay the homecare worker directly?

No.  You never have to directly pay a homecare worker.  Your homecare worker is our employee.  You or your authorized representative are invoiced bi-weekly.  For other billing options please talk to the care manager assigned to you.

Is there an option for short-term and long-term homecare services?

Yes.  You can choose to receive either short-term or long-term care homecare services.   We are here to listen to your needs and provide information on available services to satisfy your needs.  Our trained staff will work with you in creating a plan of service tailored for you.

What happens if I start homecare services with your agency and loved one needs to be moved to a care facility?

No need to worry.  Services need not be discontinued.  We are willing to transition with you or your loved one.  We will work with you and the receiving facility to avoid service interruption.

Will someone be available after business hours?

Yes.  There is an on-call person available to help you even after business hours to ensure continuity and quality of care.
